Declarations and documents

We can assist you with all kinds of customs formalities certificates necessary to facilitate your international business needs.

We offer support when you are researching the right HS code, and should all else fail we will help you request a BTI.

In recent years, fines of up to 7500 euros per violation have been applied at the Ports of Le Havre and Marseille for missing customs documents prior to shipment. This rule applies for all shipment types (FCLLCL and conventional/breakbulk).

Furthermore, since 1 January 2020, carriers have implemented a ‘no-load policy’ when there are no customs documents available for an export shipment. In other words, your cargo will simply not be shipped, but rather left on the quay, which will likely result in additional charges for you.

We also want to draw your attention to the fact that customs in France focuses heavily on intercepting undervalued cargoes, so it is of the utmost importance that you ensure you are shipping with the right HS codes.

For more information about declarations and certificates, please don’t hesitate to contact us to so we can assist you in your specific situation.

We always work with direct representation for your custom clearances, meaning that we arrange clearances for you as a third party, in your name and at your expense as a third party.

Certified pickup

Customs have recently initialised a secure chain for your cargo! No unknown or outside parties can have access to your cargo and you are ensured of a certified pickup! Embassy Freight is part of this secure chain, so you know your cargo is in safe hands.

AEO

Embassy Freight Services has been AEO certified since 15 May 2013. AEO stands for Authorised Economic Operator. This certificate is issued by the customs authorities and declares that a company complies with all requirements concerning the international transportation of goods.

For our customers this means that goods transported by our services are subject to fewer custom inspections. In addition, when a customs inspection is conducted, it can be done at the place of unloading.

CBAM

On 1 October 2023, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism came into effect. Many companies already report on their carbon footprint, and as we approach 2030, and "Fit for 55",  (reducing the EU emissions by at least 55%), more companies will have to comply.
